Shoreworkers are automatically enrolled in the Shoreworkers Pension Fund in the January after you have worked 1000 hours in your plant. Once you are enrolled, your Pension Statements will be mailed to you each spring. Pension benefits are complex. Every BENEFIT has been won through collective bargaining. Shoreworkers struggled hard and made sacrifices to achieve these benefits. They were not given to them.
HONOURARY SHOREWORKER MEMBERS – REGISTERED RETIRED MEMBERS
If you have retired, are 60 years or older, and have after 10 years of continuous UFAWU membership, you can apply for your Honourary Membership within 1 year of retiring.
UFAWU-Unifor Honourary Membership Dues are $36 per year.
One of the Benefits of being an Honourary Shoreworker Member is your eligibility for RETIREMENT BENEFITS from the SHOREWORKERS’ BENEFIT FUND
$15 per night: lifetime maximum of $510.
TRAVEL ASSISTA lifetime maximum $5,000
FUNERAL BENEFIT $1,000
None of these benefits are payable to an estate
